Creating Trapeze and Riser Hangers

Part 1

 This tutorial will guide you through the creation of a trapeze hanger with a horizontal pipe. The first inputs will be in the fields Support Parameters, Existing Beam Parameters, Elevation Parameters, and Support Data. Follow the steps to begin creating the hanger:
    1. Choose vertical hanger under Support Type
    2. Use Existing Beam
    3. Beam length - 55
    4. Steel elevation – 96
    5. Pipe center elevation – 0
    6. Normal Load – 5000

Under Support Options , check the box for trapeze hanger:

Under the parts tree on the left, select support assembly:

 Once in the properties menu on the right there are various trapeze specific selections that are now shown. The following inputs will show these available changes and explain what they do:
    1. CC dimension – 48
    2. Trapeze offset – 2
 The C-C dimension changes the distance between the rods. Note that each lower componenet has different C-C dimensions for different sizes (please see our 2014 Anvil EPS catalog) and only certain combinations will work in Forgeworx. The trapeze offset input field allows you to offset the center of pipe to the left or right of the center of the trapeze hanger shown here:

With the previously chosen parameters, there are two different loweer trapeze assemblies to choose from, a figure 45, and a figure 46:

The trapeze hanger portion of this tutorial is now complete.

Part 2:

This part of the tutorial will discuss how to create a vertical hanger using a riser clamp. To do this, use the following steps:

    1. Return to project browser
    2. Create new mark # and enter
    3. Create vertical hanger
    4. Create Existing Beam
    5. Steel length – 50
    6. Existing steel elevation – 75
    7. Pipe elevation – 0
    8. Pipe direction – Vertical
    9. Load – 3000

 Again, with this type of hanger you can change the C-C dimension based on the provided C-C dimensions for the current riser clamp standard 40 found in the 2014 catalog (download here).

 Trapeze hangers can also be created using different types of springs and constants by entering the support assembly under the parts tree on the left:
    1. Hanger type – spring
    2. Spring elevation – 50
    3. Spring type – A
